First, thanks to Walt for hosting our boat rides on lake Wapo! We had great weather and great fun cruising around the lake and singing!
Below is our agenda for this coming Tuesday. We'll continue working on our Christmas tunes and also a couple for our Spring Show. Below is our current thinking about the songs we are planning for the Spring Show. As I mentioned last week, we are not having a headliner quartet so that we can share more songs from the chorus history to celebrate our 75th anniversary. Even though there are more songs than usual for us to perform, most of them are tunes we know, or used to know. So while it will take time to bring them all up to performance level, it will be fun to have them ready to go!
See you all on Tuesday!
Jay

A heartfelt shout out to all the men from my dad's barbershop chorus that he sings in The Croix Chordsmen who stopped by the Greeley Center to spend time with my dad and do some singing with him while he's recovering from his surgery.
I can assure you that you are all appreciated...
I think they were just making sure he got his practice
And thank you to my sister who videotaped them singing tonight.

I’ve been watching the weather for Wednesday very closely, and it looks like there will be a 20 – 30% chance of rain in the afternoon and it will be in the low 60s with 12-13 mph winds. I’ve been on the lake in weather like that, and it isn’t much fun. As a result, I’m postponing the day on Lake Wapogasset until Wednesday afternoon, August 20th.
I looked back at my records and we’ve been doing the event since 2022 and it’s the first time we’ve had to change dates, so I’d say we’ve done pretty well.
We will have the same schedule as was previously announced. We’ll all meet at the Mixed Up Waterside at 1342 Lone Pine Lane, Amery, WI 54001 at 1:45 to 2:00 and plan to depart the docks about 2:00. The restaurant will be open for rest room stops before we board the pontoons. We’ll have three pontoons and we’ll spend the afternoon cruising around the lake and singing. The only “planned event" will be singing for the kids and the counselors at the swimming beach at the Bible Camp.
We’ll plan to be back to the Mixed Up Waterside by about 4:30 for refreshments and dinner on the patio, with of course, more singing. Based on past years, I would expect we’ll be finished eating by 6:30.
I’ll have a sign-up sheet at rehearsal tomorrow night, but if you know you’ll be able to attend, you can let me know via email and I’ll put you on the list.
I’m disappointed we have to postpone the event, and I’m sure we’ll lose a few guys who have commitments on August 20th, but maybe there will be an equal number of guys who couldn’t make it this week, who will be available on the 20th.
